A Note from Your President

Trust your Judgement

A large part of being intentional is knowing the direction you want to go. I have always believed if we plan or set a goal, there is a specific reason for that thought, a desired outcome. The “T” in intentional is about trusting your judgment.

How many times have you talked yourself out of taking a risk that would move you forward only to have regrets later for not following your plan, by not taking that step?

It is human nature. Your logic convinces your emotions there are too many reasons why you should not take that risk. Your logic starts asking questions, like what if? When your emotions do not have all the answers logic throws in a little thought of failure. What a battle.

Most successes will not come by staying where you are. Your successes will come when you step out of comfort, take some risks, and defy logic. Trust your judgment, trust your gut.

Henry Ford said, “If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you can’t. You will be right either way.” Sounds like believing in yourself is important.

Thinking of “can-do” let’s all congratulate Elizabeth McCormick, CSP. She will be serving the chapter as Vice President this year. This puts her in the line of succession to be President Elect 2021-2022 and then Chapter President 2022-23. Elizabeth, thank you, it will be exciting and challenging, as well. You got this.

Can you believe it, we are 25% done with our NSA NT year? What lies ahead? Is there more of the unknown, more 2020 left?

Here is what we can share. Our NSA NT year is exceeding many people’s beliefs and exceeding our expectations. We are having a fantastic year! Our events are filling up, our programs are top-notch, and all our committees have out preformed our plans. Membership is ahead of our estimations, and we have a lot of the year to go. Are you ready for more?

What can you do? Keep your eyes on the events page, interact with social media, share our posts on Facebook and LinkedIn, register for upcoming events. Let’s keep the ball rolling. There are a lot of incredible events yet to come. Ask yourself, who have I invited to an NSA NT event?

As we head into the 4th quarter of 2020 the giving time of year is approaching. We are currently supporting the Summer Santa and will be supporting Metrocrest as we have the past few years. We hope to spend some time volunteering to help families enjoy the holidays. Watch for more information to come.

Remember to thank your board and leadership team for all they are doing to support each of our chapter members. Each month they are spending tireless hours preparing for your events.

How did you intentionally move forward this month?

October Community Outreach

No matter what time of year it is, Summer Santa is always doing amazing things for kids. Founder and NSA North Texas member Dave Lieber, CSP tells us what Summer Santa is doing to help students and how you can help.

Similar to the efforts of National Speakers Foundation, our chapter strives to give back to the local community. The organizations chosen for help are ones in which at least one of our members actively donates time and efforts.

If you would like to nominate your local, non-profit organization to be recognized by the Community Outreach Committee of NSA/North Texas, please email Linda Swindling.

Positive Posts

During this time of change our WHY has NOT changed. Our presentations are relevant, and our roles, values, and expertise are required for this moment. The world is counting on us to drink our own sweet tea. We must reconnect with our WHY. The WHY will reveal the HOW! Although we have so much more to think about now, this is not the end, but the beginning! Focus, find new opportunities and keep moving forward!
