A Note from Your President

The “A” Intentional is for Attitude.

The “A” in Intentional represents Attitude this month. As we look back on an unusual year filled with more questions than answers at times, we should be thankful for the attitude of your Board of Directors and Committee Chairs.

I hope that every leader who stepped up will be remembered for their contribution. We all faced many challenges and each of these volunteers took on the added responsibilities to continue moving forward finding ways to deliver each month with many unknowns.

Stop Thinking Like a Keynote Speaker

Do you want to make a bigger impact? Do you want to make more money? If so, the key is to stop thinking like the traditional keynote speaker. The one-and-done mindset will limit your business.

What happens after (and sometimes before) the presentation can determine the value your clients receive. And the more value you create, the more income you will get.

During this session, you will learn:

  • A four-step process you can immediately use with every client to increase your impact
  • Two additional steps that can help you further leverage your content
  • How to create interactive tools to be used during and after a presentation – for free or little money

NSA NT Community Outreach

This month we are focusing on S.E.T. Up For Success Foundation
(S.E.T. = Science, Engineering, and Technology)

Funding Student Access to Science, Engineering, and Technology Through Robotics

Please learn more about this incredible organization, consider making a donation, or volunteer to support its current needs.

The S.E.T. Up For Success Foundation’s primary goal is to provide funding for north Texas elementary school through high school students who want to start a competitive robotics team, but don’t have access to funds to achieve this goal.

NSA NT’s own Arlene Gale, and Curtis Chapin co-founded the organization in June 2014. It gained 501(c)(3) status in March 2015.

The initial target market goal was to financially support starting and maintaining private robotics teams for homeschooling, scouting, and other private groups who did not have access to tax-free donation dollars like public and private schools do. Thanks to the support of generous donors, the target market reach has widened to support and encourage more girls in robotics and students in lesser served communities.

Another goal of the S.E.T. Up For Success Foundation is to provide teams with mentors who are professional experts in engineering, marketing, computer programming, researching, and other areas to guide the robot teams in building and competing with their own team-built robot.

“The scariest moment is always just before you start.” This quote is about book writing by Stephen King (On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft).

I remember standing on the edge of a canyon holding a rope, looking 300 feet straight down. Everyone else stood below waiting. I was paralyzed in place. The guide offered to drive me down, so I had an out.

Then someone below shouted, “You’ve got this! The first step is the scariest!” If we’re stretching ourselves to face our fears, stretch toward a new goal, attempt something we’ve never done before, it’s a bit scary to take the first step. But the choice is then between staying stuck or succeeding more. Scary is not something we can control, but our response to it absolutely is.

This month what is one thing you really want to do that seems a little scary? How about just taking the first step?
