What audiences you speak for?

Leaders who experience high stress and looking for science backed, non-traditional support.

What led you to this career?

When my marriage of 13 years ended in divorce in 2010, I became consumed with well-being and self-actualizing to help overcome the sadness and disappointment of losing my marriage and everything I knew to be true at the time. I started sharing my healing journey with friends and small groups virtually via conference calls and webinars. The tools and resources I shared were well received, and so many people were hurting that I saw the demand grow; in 2014, I formed the business Vivian Hughes, LLC, and in 2019 added the dba Brand New Me Coaching to serve as the ‘vision midwife’ to help people birth their vision for their lives after adversity,

What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?

Story telling

What’s your go-to productivity trick?

Asana for managing projects and plotting deliverables on my calendar with reminders

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

Tony Robbins + Les Brown

What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, and what did you learn from it?

Overly coachable – became paralyzed by taking in excessive advice and in my attempt to get everything right, I burned out and lost my zest for the business. I learned to balance seeking advice with allowing myself the space and grace to make mistakes as I shaped my career on my terms.

What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?

2 published books on Amazon:

– It’s All Me, The Modern Woman’s Guide to Thriving After Divorce

What being a member of NSA-NT means to you (testimonial)

The NSA-NT community exudes boundless benevolence! Members have gone above and beyond to share advice and best practices that have helped me grow as a speaker and after just a few short months of being a member, I booked my first four-figure speaking engagement!

Something personal you want us to know- can be about family, a vacation, a favorite food- anything you care to share.

When I was a little girl, my mother insisted I recite Easter speeches, deliver announcements, and welcome visitors from the stage with a mic in my hand at church. I’m her only child; she and my dad divorced before I started kindergarten, and the church was her remedy for bridging the gap in our lives after they separated. Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, MI, is where you could find us twice on Sundays, every Monday for bible class, Wednesday for Sunday school teacher’s meeting, and two weeks every summer for vacation bible school. Whenever there was a need for a presenter, my mother would encourage me to raise my hand. I dreaded it then, but looking back, I appreciate her cultivating the speaker in me. #whoknew
