A Note from Your President

This is Decidedly Not the end of the Chapter Year that I imagined a year ago. In fact, we have been engaged in a lot of re-imagining of All-Things-Chapter since March. And, WOW, how amazing they’ve turned out to be. Virtual meetings, virtual labs, virtual NSA North Texas Board meetings, virtual NSA North Texas video panel, virtual lions and tigers and bears, Oh My!. Who would have imagined we would be closing out the year not being able to gather together in a large setting, catching up with each other, hearing in person from talented speakers, and eating bacon? I surely do miss that and miss being with all of you. However, it underscores how strong this Chapter is, how talented and giving our members are, and how we can tackle any challenge that is thrown at us. As spectacular as all of that has been, I know each of us are looking forward to the day we can, once again, meet in person.

Knowing that we have all experienced some downtime in our businesses, the Chapter has quite the deal on membership to help us all get back together for the 2020-2021 Chapter Year. A whopping $200 discount on your membership when you renew it along with purchasing an All Access Pass. At whatever point we begin to have full in-person meetings again, we also will continue to have some virtual events next year. As it turns out, we have all learned that a lot of us enjoy participating online, in our “at home wear”, and not driving somewhere to an event. So, the virtual pivot this year will have a place next year, too. In addition to delivering a reduced meeting registration fee, the All Access Pass is your ticket to the majority of those virtual events and labs. As you all know, the big revenue to keep our Chapter financially sound comes in at the end of each Chapter Year when we have our membership renewals. Please do renew today and take advantage of that $200 discount before it ends on June 30, 2020.

A HEARTFELT TEXAS THANK YOU, to all of our volunteers this year! NSA North Texas thrives because so many of you are able to donate your time, talents, and energy to keep us moving forward. Every act of volunteerism is appreciated: serving on the Board, lining up speakers, creating labs, and speaking at our many events are visible to everyone; however, there are so many more ways in which many of you have made us stronger! All the work it took to have a successful Silent Auction and holiday party; picking up speakers at the airport; running errands for supplies; writing a note to someone going through a difficult time; volunteering as an Academy Mentor; working on our website; volunteering to serve on a committee; helping us recruit and gain new members; designing and sending out communications such as this newsletter and upcoming events; volunteering to find other volunteers; offering ideas and names for speakers; and, loaning us your home for events, to name a few! Please see my thank-you list below.

It has been a fun, interesting, challenging, and exciting year! I hope to see you at our June meeting where we will announce our Member of the Year and other recognitions. Our speaker is Lois Creamer, need I say more?! Enjoy all of our June events (check the website!), stay healthy, and keep your imagination in full gear!
