A Note from Your President

“Another Op’nin’, Another Show!” from Cole Porter’s musical ,”Kiss me, Kate” surely is a line to which all of us can relate. Every keynote, facilitation, training, workshop, seminar and speaking event we do is a another op’nin’, another opportunity to influence our audiences. The same is true for our superb NSA North Texas Chapter. A new year is here, and our August meeting will kick us into gear. Our guest speaker is the brilliant and amazing Simon Bailey! If you have not heard him, you are in for a true treat. If you have heard him, I know you will be racing to our meeting to hear him again. You will be inspired, informed, engaged and energized and will walk away with new ideas for your business model by learning how to stay relevant in 2020.

Our Chapter theme for next year is Imagine Your Potential! Wherever you are in your career – new to the speaking business, seasoned professional, hall of fame speaker or ready to kick back and travel the world – your imagination is the key to unlocking your next move. What is it you want to do this coming year to take you where you want to go? Do you know? Perhaps a new perspective on your potential from our all-star lineup of chapter meeting speakers will ignite your imagination. Wherever you are in both your professional and personal life, you will find imagination and inspiration in full gear at our meetings for 2019-2020. You’ll soon be hearing about our labs and special events, along with Saturday afternoon breakout sessions offered by some of our guest speakers following the chapter meeting. I’m excited about all of it and know you will be, too.

Two Big Reminders

Before our August meeting arrives, the NSA Influence 2019 conference in Denver will launch! I know many of us will be there to take advantage of the wide variety of speakers and topics during an intense and fun few days of learning. If you have not registered yet, there is still time to do so. The conference dates are July 27­-30, 2019. Be there if you can, or you may find yourself singing “I never felt more like singing the blues ….”

Check out the jam-packed intensive learning for our NSA North Texas Academy beginning in October 2019. Continuing to build on our many successful academies in the past, this year we will offer more content than ever before, a wide variety of content delivery and venues, mentors at the beginning of the Academy for first time attendees, and opportunities for past Academy Alumni to take advantage of this “up-vamped” content at a special rate. Niki McCuistion, CSP and Jim Pancero, CSP, CPAE are our co-deans for the 2019-2020 Academy and their expertise alone makes it worth signing up. But wait, there’s more! The Academy Faculty who will teach and facilitate many of the in-depth modules throughout the Academy year are highly experienced and successful speakers offering both concrete and creative content – and maybe a few secrets – to share with participants. 2018-2019 ZIG ZIGLAR MEMBER OF THE YEAR : CONGRATULATIONS LAUREN MIDGLEY

Lauren Midgley was awarded the prestigious Zig Ziglar Member of the Year award during the June chapter meeting. As Director of Membership for the Chapter in 2018-2019, Lauren brought tremendous energy to recruiting new members, making them feel welcome and helping them find resources and support within NSA-NT. She increased our membership every month and led a “Road to Pro” workshop that offered guidance on strategies to become a professional member. Lauren tracked key membership metrics and implemented strategies to keep progress on track. She most recently stepped up to serve as Dean for the Spring Academy 2019 in addition to her role as Director of Membership. Over the last four years, Lauren has served in several key positions on the Board and consistently delivers at the highest-level professionalism and diligence. Thank you for all you do, Lauren!
