Rafael Speaks to:

All my professional career I had been divided in two worlds: Personal development and business effectiveness. So I have two main audiences, companies associates from top management all the way to front line and individuals interested in their personal growth. In fact my soul’s betray me when writing, because my four books are more oriented to human relationships and personal growth. Just take a look at the titles: “Healing soul’s wounds”; “The Journey. 7 steps to design a purposeful life”. “Change your habits, change your life” and “Living fearless to fall”.

What led Rafael to this career?

I really did not planned to be a speaker. At the end of my 20’s I was doing volunteer work among youth. I started at church and expanded to high schools, universities and at a prison for minors. I learned that one of the main factors of youth challenges and chances to succeed are their parents. So I started talking to parents to help their kids. That was when adults started asking me to go and talk at their companies about relationships and conflicts. At the same time a Tv anchor who found out what I was doing among youth invited me to her show. In a previous talk she inquired me about the biggest problems young kids have. My immediate answer was: their soul’s wounds. That was the show topic and it was a hit. To make a long story short, years later that became my first book because people asked for it. In short what led me to this beautiful career was trying to help other people solve their needs.

What professional skill is Rafael working on?

I am studying how to write novels.

A productivity trick?

Make a public commitment to deliver whatever work I have in less time than usual. This really get me going!

Who has influenced me most when it comes to how I approach my work?

No doubt, Mr. Stephen R. Covey, with the great information of his book “The 7 habits of the highly effective people”.

A mistake I made early in my career and what I learned out of it:

It’s good you asked for one in my early years, not the one last week. My big mistake was not to collect audience information at my events in order to create a data base for today online times.

A work-related accomplishment that I am really proud?

To obtain most of my gigs trough mouth to mouth recommendations and have my books distributed all along Latin America and USA.

Being a member of NSA-NT?

Being a member of NSA-NT has been a great gift for me. For my career means to have a cloud of experienced, professional and sharing mentors with whom I can relate. Also, an excellent way to take my career and business to the next level. All the time receiving information to increase my performance on stage, content creation, back office management, legal issues, relating to bureaus and many things more. As person for me has been a community of people I admire not only for their professional success but for the willingness to share, support and help me. Being part of NSA-NT makes feel part, not only of an industry, but of a team of professionals. A flock of eagles.

Some personal details.

This March my wife and I will celebrate our 32nd year of marriage. I enjoy traveling (I like Spain a lot), eating sugar free ice cream, fruits, reading and drinking espresso coffee.
