About Stu Schlackman, CSP

Stu is known as the relationship selling expert with 37 years of sales and sales leadership experience. He is the author of four business books and two spiritual. His latest book is the Relationship Selling Secret that builds on his first book-Four People You Should Know. Both use his personality tool he developed ten years ago. Stu became a professional speaker in 2004 and joined NSA North Texas in 2008.

He has served as president of the chapter and has received the Charbonneau Award. Stu is also a CSP (Certified Professional Speaker). Stu is an adjunct professor at University of Texas, Dallas and has taught business classes at Dallas Christian College. He speaks to sales audiences of all sizes in both the retail space and for large Hi-Tech companies. He was nominated Man of the Year for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in 2020.

He was a sales trainer for Digital Equipment Corporation which brought him to Dallas in 1987. He fell in love with training and knew that someday he would go out on his own which he did in 2004. His sales career started in 1983 in Birmingham, Alabama with Digital before the move to Dallas.

Right now his top priority is putting all his training modules online for three companies that he is coaching and then to offer it to the open market. He has 20 modules on a variety of sales topics.

He loves to multi-task! He read about 60 books a year and most of the reading is done on a stationary bike or an elliptical machine. He only read nonfiction (boring for many) but he loves to stay up with what is going on in the world of sales and leadership.

He says many of his friends at the North Texas chapter have had a great impact like Michael Hoffman, Jim Pancero, Linda Swindling, Tim Marvel and Elizabeth McCormick when it comes to how he approaches his work.

He made a mistake early on in his career of waiting too long to join NSA which costed him about 10,000 dollars that he invested in the wrong place.

He says that his work-related accomplishment that he is really proud of is his last book, The Relationship Selling Secret. He believes it addresses what’s most needed in sales and the company he is coaching in has given it to the entire company.

He says being a member of NSA-NT means It’s where he has learned the most about the speaking business. It has shortened the learning curve 5 years and he has made some incredible friends!

He has a place in Bretton Woods NH where he now spends most of July and August. He used to work in New Hampshire and he loves the weather and the mountains. He was also very passionate in his younger years and has completed 7 marathons including the Boston Marathon and several Triathlons.
