About Scott Cooksey AKA “Cooksey”

Since 2009, Scott Cooksey has worked with global leaders across North America, the Caribbean, Australia and the Middle East to unlock tremendous results through hundreds of workshops, keynote speeches and executive coaching sessions.

His work drives results for individual contributors, leaders at all levels and sales professionals by raising their level of engagement with practical, quick-to-deploy strategies and techniques.

Cooksey has extensive experience with clients in business services, finance, manufacturing, energy/oil & gas, aerospace, electronics, software and organizations just like yours.

Following 13 years in banking and financial services, along with THREE market crashes, it was time for something different, so Cooksey shifted his focus to leadership development, started facilitating workshops and never looked back!

Lately, Cooksey has been learning how to facilitate workshops in VR. (Hey, we didn’t think that “Zoom-thing” would ever stick either!)

He is learning not to be such a control freak and starting to hire outside help for more administrative parts of the business. It’s a work in progress, but early on he had a mentor teach me the importance of “working closest to the dollar”.

Cooksey was influenced through attaining the rank of Eagle Scout as a teenager which set him on a course of leadership.

Learning from his mistakes-  Cooksey advises: Don’t work for too little for too long. You’re worth much more than you often give yourself credit. Deliver incredible value. You are worth more than what someone else bills you out for and CERTAINLY more than they are paying you.

Bouncing back after the shock of 2020, the following year turned out to be the most financially rewarding year of any business he has ever been in. New doors opened because he NEVER STOPPED WORKING. Playing the long game seems to be treating Cooksey alright! Once he found the first “anchor client” (one big enough he could stop living scared month-to-month) everything felt easier.

Being a member of NSA-NT means being an active member of a community of peers. Professionals at LITERALLY every stage of a speaker/facilitator’s career can be found at NSA-NT. Serving on the board brought be even closer to many in the chapter…and he lives 3 ½ hours drive away in Oklahoma!

On a personal note, Cooksey suggests to block off time on your calendar for vacation and time away with your spouse, family, friends and even a little time to simply catch your breath. 2021 was the first year he made that a TRUE priority by preserving (and taking trips with family) spring break, summer trip and a couple weeks off around the Christmas/New Year holiday season.,..and his business was actually UP.
