A Note from Your President

Ready to Fire Up Your Fanaticism?

The perfect way to stoke that fire is to join me VERY early on the morning of Saturday, August 12th. Yep, the first Pow-Wow with the President is at 7:30 am. Think of it as the pre-meeting or pre-conference opportunity that we are seeing more of in the Speaking Business.

If you want to get “Booked”; I’ll be sharing some gems from Influence 2017. If you were in Florida come join the early morning share fest. Christine Cashen and Michael Hoffman left no stone unturned on that theme in Orlando. Anyone in the Chapter lucky enough to go knows exactly what I mean. This is why you don’t miss convention.

Can’t roll out of bed early? Don’t miss the rest of the kick-off. It starts at 9 am and wraps at Noon. If you do join me let me apologize in advance for my high octane approach. Trust me to wake up that early I’ll be operating on a pot of coffee.

August 2017 Program: 6ix Strategies of the Kick-Ass Entrepreneur “The blueprint, the habits, & the mastermind that produced millions” with Dawnna St. Louis

This program will not instantly transform you into a wealthy entrepreneur. You will not suddenly be endowed with the sorcery required to pull a rabbit out of a hat. There is no magic here.

You will, however, discover the six strategies of very successful entrepreneurs who started, built, ran, grew, and duplicated business success.

In this eye-opening program, based on her book – 6ix Kick-Ass Strategies of the Million-Dollar Entrepreneur – Dawnna St. Louis will share how the business blueprint, the Daily 6ix, and the weekly mastermind transformed a crazy kitchen table idea into a multi-million dollar powerhouse. And how you can use her 6ix Kick-Ass Strategies build a lifestyle business without breaking the bank.

In this high-content mind-blowing session you will discover how to:

  • Eradicate blindspots that are blindsiding your success
  • 3 actions to a rock-hard and un-breakable business core
  • Exploit money-making gaps that your competitors ignore
  • How to avoid the top 5 most common business mistakes
  • Exponentially grow your business in the next 90 days

Perfect for: Intra/Entrepreneurs, User Groups, Contractors, Supply chain, Direct Sales, and anyone responsible for profits.

Not good for: People who think overnight success literally happens overnight.

NOTE: Dawnna will also be hosting an afternoon session to go deeper into the subjects discussed in her talk. There will be an additional fee for that session. You can sign up at the meeting.

About the Speaker:

What can a homeless teen turned Founder/COO of a $250M tech consultancy tell you about being a top performer? Quite a bit.

Like you, Dawnna St Louis – persuasion and influence guru (with a dash of entrepreneurial expertise), knows that reaching big goals can feel like running a gauntlet with bare feet over hot-coals.

But she also knew that to be a winner, she had to think bigger and take bold action. From talking a veteran Hostage Negotiator into being her mentor (yeah… like an FBI Hostage Negotiator) to becoming a highly successful international speaker, Dawnna doesn’t just do better… she does different in an undaunted way.

That’s why Dawnna works with winners at the top of their game to think differently and crush it on a daily basis.

Imagine the wins in your future when you reach your biggest hairiest most audacious goals.

you, the speaker: Hotel seminar speakers take the money and run

by Dave Lieber, CSP
Dallas Morning News columnist

Note: I studied hotel sales seminar speakers. This is excerpted from the July 30, 2017 Dallas Morning News Watchdog column.

Do you ever get a personalized invitation in the mail inviting you to a get-rich-quick seminar at an area hotel?

I’ve been to hotel seminars led by vending machine salespeople, tax lien specialists, travel clubs, real estate flippers, stock option traders and investment advisers.

Last week, I went to one billed as “A Women’s Only Conference! Ladies, this is a special night just for us!”

Did they let me in? Of course. For anyone breathing and holding a credit card, the entry path is cleared.

Here, for you, is the All-Purpose Hotel Sales Seminar.

The lure

How do they get you there? Promise a free mystery gift. Hook it to a quasi-celebrity. Promise a free meal. (Investment dudes like to put you in a steakhouse. Go upscale, baby.)

The thing is, the celebrity never shows. Daymond John of TV’s Shark Tank was a no-show at his session last year in Grapevine. Christina and Tarek from HGTV’s Flip or Flop were missing in action, too. Although to be fair, they sent me an apology video afterward.

Last week’s no-show celeb was a woman I’d never heard of. Google her name and learn she piggybacks atop women’s conferences for her fame and glory. Well, she missed my women’s conference here.

The substitute

So you arrive at the hotel, all decorated with banners showing the celebrity who will not show. Then you meet the substitute. The sub tells you he or she is in the no-show celeb’s inner circle. The sub says the celeb is busy on this particular night, but sends his or her regards.

The sub is charming, funny and fast-talking. The sub, especially in Texas, will probably make references to finding God and turning his or her life around. “My daddy was a preacher,” the sub said last week.

The sub is appealing, at this point, to your heart, not your brain. The sub strives to be likable.

The reward

As the sub builds toward the big pitch, one thing that can be counted on is the sub will always talk about how they have made enough money to drive a nice car and go on very expensive vacations.

The sub also says it’s not about the money. It’s about helping people. It’s about making dreams come true. They actually say that. “Dreams come true.” It’s like Disney, only they’re taking you on a different kind of ride.

The big pitch

After a half-hour warm-up, you learn what they’re selling. For a moment, you want to buy their package. Whoa, boy. Rein it in.

The setup

See those tables in the back, covered with white tablecloths and credit machines? Guess what those are for.

The deal

The idea is to get you to pay more for an advanced session, again in a hotel, a few days or weeks away. Oh, and there’s always a discount. Two people can go for the price of one. Buy this and get that. How can you refuse?

Lucky 7

You’ll notice the price usually ends in 7. That’s why $997 is a popular price. Seven supposedly doesn’t sound so high. But it’s a tip-off. Supreme sales psychology is in play here.

Money-back guarantee

Money-back promises are usually offered, but if you want it, dig your heels in for a fight.

The gift

Last week, I got a woman’s watch with a white band. Flip or Floppers gave me an MP3 player with enough gig space for a hundred songs.

My advice

Only go to these, if like me, you like to study human nature.

Don’t let yourself buy. You’ll probably be sorry later.

Don’t take a photo, as I did, unless you want to get kicked out.

Don’t let emotions rule you. Buy with your head, not your heart.

Remember that the sellers don’t do the work for you. They only show you how to do it.

You still gotta do it all to get rich quick.

Saved you a trip here, didn’t I?

Influence 2017 – On Fire and Still Burning

by Sherrie Wilson

Jim Rohn said “We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.”

Well baby, I have found my tribe at NSA-NT. I want to be like those whom I am surrounded.

Enchanting does not adequately describe the NSA Influence 2017 conference. Captivating, enthralling and fascinating doesn’t comes close to re-counting the experience as NSA-NT ruled this conference! Overall it was a high-grossing content event and an incredible experience which fits perfectly with President Delaney’s theme for the year “Fire Up Your Fanaticism!”

One Alarm Fire

The Cavett Academy was hosted by NSA-NT member Gary Rifkin. I ran out of note space on day one! Gary took all gold nuggets I have picked up through my years with NSA-NT and put them in order where they all started to make sense. I felt like ideas, goals and dreams started to make sense. There were seasoned high caliber speakers in this meeting gleaning ideas too. Note to self: Come to Cavett Academy again!

Two Alarm Fire

We were all taken prisoner by the bewitching hostess Christine Cashen (Beauty) and host Michael Hoffman (Beast) roared us with delight. They masterfully commanded the stage and watching them perform truly was a spell bounding experience. At the closing my mind was blown when Christine came out as the Beast and Michael came on stage as the beauty and it was cute, hilarious and enjoyable. Wow! Just Wow!

Three Alarm Fire

Nikki Nanos was headliner at the conference managing all the VIP members (first timers). Nikki is the coolest member of NSA-NT and the Dean of the Academy. Get to know her as she is a presentation expert and an absolute delight.

Four Alarm Fire

On a personal mission, I sat in all the “Getting your CSP” courses and understood, “I can do this!” So can you! Then the magic began again as NSA-NT members Tim Marvel, Chris Fuller and Christopher Bianez walked across stage as new Certified Speaking Professionals (CSP). They proudly wore their medals and NSA-NT badges during the conference and people from around the world congratulated them. Geez, I was thinking can’t take any more amazing experiences, but there was more to come.

Five Alarm Fire

NSA-NT President Kate Delaney was so fired up she won the coveted NSA President’s award. It was given by John Molidor, President of NSA for her contribution to Voices of Experience. This girl really is on fire and we are all going to experience an amazing year.

Six Alarm Fire

Now, after all that, the highest award bestowed by the NSA is the Cavett Award. It represents a members exemplary accomplishments over the years in serving the speaking professional and the NSA as a whole. This prestigious award celebrated and honors those who demonstrate the spirit of Cavett. NSA-NT now has three members to receive this award:

Zig Ziglar 2001,

Gary Rifkin 2015 and

Randy Pennington 2017

Note to self: I am going to have to get to know Gary and Randy better! I want them in my group of high five friends.

NSA-NT was everywhere. I realized this is where all the polished and experienced speakers come to get fed ideas and learn presentation skills. I wasn’t just drinking out of a fire hose, I had large diameter ladder pipe with a 1000 gallon per minute hose directed right down my throat with masterful ideas, content and connections.

As a member with less than 5 years, I realized I really am among speaking royalty at NSA-NT. I will never miss another one of these conferences. Set yourself and your speaking business ablaze and book yourself for next three years out at NSA Influence.
