A Note from Your President

Welcome NSA members to our new year! Our theme this coming year for 2016-2017 is It’s Still About You. Well to be honest it’s always about you! Our goal is to provide incredible value to support you in the growth of your business. You are what makes our chapter a success, so helping you achieve your goals and dreams is NSA North Texas’ objective.

Thanks to all our members that went to Influence in July. What a great way to get together and share our ideas to promote our business. What a pleasure to have North Texas represented on the Main Stage with Connie Podesta and Kate Delaney. We look forward to hearing Kate this year as she hosts Voices of Experience.

We have an excellent line up of NSA speakers kicking off the year with Tim Gard who also shared with us on the stage at Influence. Jane Atkinson will be sharing with us in September and will be giving a workshop in the afternoon for those that are interested. We also have a Lab planned for August 31st with Jill Schiefelbein. Jill will also be our guest speaker in December.
We will continue to have great Labs throughout the year to give you the knowledge you need to take your speaking business to the next level. We will continue with our After Hours events hosted by Karen Cortell Reisman and Julie Alexander. What really makes our chapter unique is the sharing that goes on between you! This is how we all grow together. Some of the best advice I’ve received has comes right from our own members.

We still have a couple of slots in our Charbonneau Academy. This year’s Academy should be outstanding lead by past president Alex Ramsey and Nikki Nanos.

Our members will receive a special gift at the August meeting. I am really looking forward to serving you this coming year. Feel free to reach out to me at 214-435-9758 or stu@stuschlackman.com if you have any questions. We look forward to serving you in any way we can. Remember, It’s Still About You!!

you, the speaker: He’s a pro pro speaker

by Dave Lieber, CSP
Dallas Morning News columnist

I figure there are pro speakers like you and me. And then there are what I will call pro pro speakers. A double pro speaker is a selling machine. He sells like a monster. He sells just to sell, sell, sell.

Now Joe and Grant are selling inside a ballroom at a Hilton Garden Inn. The show is for me and a hundred others lucky enough to get invited to, as the sign says, “An Exclusive Event.”

The product has something to do with real estate, but the stars of the HGTV show who are supposed to be there, oh, they can’t make it. Instead, they send Joe and Grant.

If you’re a pro speaker like us, you quickly see you’re witnessing something special. Special as in bad speaker clichés. Here are actual words from these pro pro speakers.

If you, the speaker, use too many of these yourself, you might be in pro pro territory, too.

This is where the rubber meets the road.
It’s an investment accelerator.

Come on guys. Get off your ass and do something.
If you don’t do this, I’ll still love ya, but we won’t talk anymore.
